Used 2010 Gibson Custom Shop Limited Edition ’55 Les Paul Historic Electric Guitar Cherry Sunburst
We have a very unusual preowned 2010 Gibson Custom Shop Limited Edition ’55 Les Paul “Refin” guitar in excellent condition. We know you’re looking at this picture and attempting to make sense of a ’55 Les Paul with humbuckers and a Cherry Sunburst finish, so allow us to debunk the mystery. Over the years, a good number of early/mid ’50s Les Paul Gold Tops were “converted” to the specs of a ’58, ’59, or ’60 standard Les Paul with a sunburst finish. The Gold Tops would be stripped of the gold color and refinished with Cherry Sunburst, while the pickups cavities were re-routed to fit humbuckers in place of the original P-90s.
This particular guitar has all of the features of a real ’55 conversion. Actually, it’s quite impressive how Gibson Custom captured some minute details that would appear on a real conversion, such as the two-piece plain maple top with a seam that isn’t perfectly in the center, and the natural gloss finish (not the cherry shade used on the late ’50s/’60 bursts) on the back and sides and looking very Gold Top! Features include a soft shoulder ’55 neck profile, a tune-o-matic/stopbar bridge and tailpiece with TonePros long steel anchors and long locking studs, Burst Bucker 1 and 2 humbucker pickups for the neck and bridge respectively, Kluson tuners, period-correct electronics, and nickel hardware. Weight is 9 pounds, 3 ounces.
Includes: Original Hardshell Case and Certificate of Authenticity
