Used 2013 Lipe Guitars El Capo Electric Guitar Spalted Alder Natural
This is a pre-owned Lipe that was originally sold by the Zoo and has come back through our doors. The guitar is in excellent condition with no major signs of wear on it, and it includes the original hardshellc case. Spalted Alder is something we don’t get to see much here at the Zoo, and we were blown away by the lightweight resonance and clarity that comes out of this guitar! Of course the completely unique streaking patterns that come from natural decay in the forest add aesthetic appeal as well.
Mike Lipe has been one of THE go-to luthiers in the professional music world for decades. As a master builder for Ibanez, Mike handcrafted most of the actual Ibanez guitars you would see famous artists playing on stage. Since 2000, Lipe has branched out on his own, creating boutique guitars with all the specs and build techniques the he feels make a guitar really sing, all while being open to customizations that will best serve the customer. We at The Music Zoo are proud to carry some very cool Lipe models that especially stand out.
This the El Capo, made with a spalted alder body and a roasted curly maple neck. The roasting process removes the sap and moisture from the wood, resulting in a neck that is extremely resonant and resistant to warping from weather conditions. Each neck on Lipe guitars are bolted on with stainless steel thread screws into brass inserts, creating a dead-locked grip that provides totally sympathetic neck-to-body resonance. The Cocobolo fretboard comes with Jescar frets, renowned for their ability to resist wear, at a size comparable to Dunlop 6155’s. The headstock is given a 7% tilt angle for optimum string tension, while Hipshot locking tuners keep everything in place.
For pickups, this El Capo come sequipped with dual Amalfitano Barrybucker Alnico 5 humbuckers, which deliver a nice, hot PAF style response. Push/pull coil –tapping allows for a leaner, brighter response. All in all, this guitar has a great feel that is matched with a rich tone.
